Meet Teacher Jean! violin/Viola
Teacher Jean is well versed in classical repertoire for violin & viola as well as modern stage sounds with pedals and special effects using an electric violin.
Jean Mastaler is a professional violinist and violist, working and living in Portland OR. After growing up studying within the Suzuki Method, Jean obtained her bachelors of music degree in 2011, Jean has played with many outstanding groups including the Portland Opera, Oregon Symphony, Eugene ballet company, and the Vancouver symphony orchestra. In addition to being an accomplished classical performer she also plays contemporary music on electric violin.
Her passion for teaching started very early, at the age of 15. Jean has been dedicated to sharing her knowledge and love of music for over 20 years, creating exciting and comprehensive music lessons tailored to each student's learning style.
Jean was part of the early days of Mosaic, helping thrive when we first opened our doors in 2019! We’re so glad to have her back!
She believes that a well rounded approach to learning music is key, incorporating ear training and improvising in tandem with music reading and technical ability. Jean is here to help you reach your musical goals, and have a great time doing it!
